TPMS

If your TPMS light goes out once the tires are properly inflated, the sensor is fine; if it remains on or flashes it may mean that there is an issue with the sensor itself. TPMS problems can include any of the following:

• the sensor has stopped functioning because the battery has died.
• the sensor is working intermittently due a weak or failing battery.
• the module is not receiving a signal from one or more sensors because of a faulty antenna or wiring issue.
• the module is not functioning properly or has failed because of a voltage supply, wiring or internal electronics fault.
• the tires were serviced or rotated recently and the relearn procedure was not done correctly.

Our technicians will use a TPMS tool to activate and check the response signal from each TPMS sensor, this will tell us if the sensor is generating a signal and whether or not the pressure reading is accurate. At this time, we will also check the TPMS valve stems for corrosion or damage and see the age of the sensor. If the sensor is seven to ten years old, the battery is probably failing. At this point we can replace the sensor and it should fix the issue.
